'Letterpress for All!' zine series

Letterpress should be an accessible art form.

The 5th zine is ready to post, and first 4 of these zines have completed peer review as part of an accepted article in Feminist Media Histories: An International Journal! They’ll appear here as soon as that issue comes out (Spring 2025?).

Current & forthcoming zines

5. When the press rollers just right: calibrating roller height on the Vandercook printing press (Letterpress for All! Brioche #5)

Nos. 1-4 in this series are awaiting the Spring 2026 publication of a peer-reviewed journal issue they’re part of, but #5 has been written & will be published when I get a chance in the next few weeks! …So numbering will look nonsensical until those first 4 zines are published—they’ve already completed peer review).

These “forthcoming” zines will be posted here for free online and offline (download/print) reading.

1. Vandercookin’ for All Types & Sorts: An Introduction to Typesetting, Makeready, & Printing Your 1st Print on a Vandercook Press
2. Just my type: finding, buying, or making your 1st letterpress type
3. My first press: Accessing or buying a press for letterpress printing
4. Moveable Text Art Now!: (What am I trying to impress?) (Do I even need a printing press?)

Other free letterpress zines I’ve made

These aren’t in the peer-reviewed set of 4 “Letterpress for all!” series zines, but are still letterpress-related:
